yes, any major is acceptible as long as the prerequisite coursework is met. This usually includes 8 credits of organic chemistry with lab, two semesters of general/inorganic chemistry, and two or more semesters of advanced biology. Some schools have other requirements as well. The Medical School Admissions Requirements (MSAR) should be in your college library and contains the requirements for every school.

If you're planning to enter medical school with a political science degree you're going to have to take a slew of prerequisite classes needed for medical school which are going to be a lot of science classes. Most medical school students have undergrad science degrees in Anatomy, Biology, or other natural sciences because that cuts down on the classes needed to get through. I would suggest changing your major to a BS in Biology.
