I mean, wasn't that established 1 or 2 hundred years ago? And wasn't it originally for farmers, so they'd have more "daylight" during the farming months? Isn't there a lot less need for this archaic system now?

Okay, bottom line: It takes the human body 3 weeks to fully adjust to any new habit. So this means for 6 weeks out of the year people's habits are all screwed up, thereby contributing to the general level of craziness in the world. Not to mention those of us who aren't morning people anyway. Talk about GRUMPY!

Can we abolish this please?

Why the hell did they just change the dates for it? Ok, that's actually kinda a second question.

Daylight Savings Time was established during World War I as a measure to insure that food production was increased. It's occurrence during the seasons of Spring Summer and Fall coincide with the planting growing and harvesting of most crops. The system seemed to work for the time so they kept it. It is a pain though having to reset your clocks twice a year not to mention the main biological clock we all have.
The reason I think they changed the dates is because of global warming (the seasons all seem the same now).

Whether or not you would like the abolishing of DST depends entirely on when you get up and when you go to bed. Without DST it will be daylight between 4:30 and 5:30 am, and dark by 6:30 to 7:30. Most people I know have no issues with moving that daylight-nighttime cycle to later in the day, so that full sunlight is between 5:30 and 6:30 and sunset happens after 8:00 pm.

It can be argued that DST saves energy, but I am not sure about that. It is really because people enjoy a long summer evening rather than a long summer morning.

The farmer thing is a myth. They either don't like it or don't care. I think that most people who like it live in Northern states that receive less sunlight in the winter than in Southern states. I love it. My electric bill goes down during DST. I have so much more energy in the evening. Maybe other southern states could choose the same as Arizona and opt out. But please don't take it away from the people who love it.

Daylight savings time is a measure used to save energy, it has nothing to do with farmers. They changed the dates to increase energy savings. Think about, if the sun rises two hours before we are awake and sets before we go to bed, that is two hours of wasted sunlight. Whereas if we get up an hour earlier and go to bed an hour earlier, that is an hour less that the lights will be on.

I'm with you.I cant stand this daylight savings time.I've heard so many different excuses why they have it.But it's always something new.Just think how many people are late to work because they are not used to the time change or just forgot to change their clocks all together.I say we should get rid of it soon.
