Men wore pants, shirts, socks, boots, suit coats and hats.
Women wore pantaloons, long dresses, stockings, boots, cloaks or shawls, hats and gloves.
If you need visuals, pick up any book on the Civil War and take a look. Mr. and Mrs. Lincoln were well-dressed for their day and would probably give you a good example.

That rather depends on which people, where they lived, and what they worked at as well as whether you mean daily dress or evening and party wear. Try a Google search using 19 century, clothes, and any other words relating to what you specifically want. Example: Civil War, north, south, confederate, union, England, Africa, ...
That era was also known as the Victorian Era so you might try the word Victorian in your search.
I found a book online the other day that was fascinating since it is a pictorial history (taken from actual photos) of clothing during the Victorian era. It's called, "Victorian and Edwardian Fashion, a Photographic Survey" by Alison Gernshem.

Where is the important factor. Was the climate temperate, tropical, arctic? Please give more info. Do you mean, how did people dress in your town?
Consider there was no plastic at all. That means no rayon, spandex, polyester. In 1864, clothing was made from natural fabrics and leathers. Cottons, linens, wool. Cowhide, sheepskin, furs. The colors were bright --- don't be misled by the sepia tones of historic prints.
