I used to be a big Raider fan during the days of the Snake , But now they've kind of slid off my radar.
The issue is really how well do starting rookie quarterbacks do in the NFL ? As a rule they don't do well at all and more than one rookie qbs potential was never realized because he started to soon.
I think that if you give Russel a season or two develop he'll be a really good NFL quarterback, throwing him in too early will just shorten his career.
The Raiders still need a seasoned veteran to fill in that time.
Maybe they could call another qb named Snake ?

It doesn't really matter cuz as long as the Raiders' offensive line are giving up 8 sacks a game, they're still not going to win. Russell would be a better fit because he can avoid the rush and he has a monster arm, which is good as long as the Superfreak is still there to pull it down. Quinn would probably get eaten alive cuz he's a sitting duck in the pocket behind an offensive line that is decrepid at best. Although I think Dominic Rhodes was a good addition, I don't think they're gonna do much better until the line decides to show up. Defense is solid, just needs some tweaks here and there.

Well, not much good news for you period. Russell is better because he is more mobile than Quinn, and Troy Smith isn't a first round QB. Oakland is going to need somebody that can scramble 'cause the O-Line can't block at all. In my opinion Russell is the best fit now. Quinn will be more prepared to come in and start right away in the NFL, but he'd spend most of his time on his back if he were in a Raider's uniform. Either way, no one person is a fix for Oakland. Get used to double digit losses for a couple years.

The first thing they need to do is sure up their offensive line, it doesnt matter who they have under center or who is in the back field, they will get eaten alive with how terrible the offensive line has been. That being said I think that Russell could be a very good fit for the team. He has a great arm and a lot of talent. I think if they can put a good line together the offense could be good with the talented receivers that raiders have and the backs they have piced up and their defense was decent last year, they could have some potential.

Russell would be a perfect fit for the Raiders. Ever since the departure of Rich Gannon, the Raiders have tried to find a solid quarterback, and they have been unable to do so. QB's like Collins, Brooks, and Walter just don't cut it. I agree with the fact that the Raiders need to solidify their O-line, but they need impact players, and fast. Jamarcus Russell would be a perfect fit in Oakland. Don't be too suprised if the Raiders draft him only to see him perform wonderfully next year.

FIRST OF ALL, SORRY. SORRY YOU'RE A RAIDER FAN. SECONDLY, IT'S NOT THAT RUSSELL IS A GOOD FIT FOR THE RAIDERS, IT'S THE RAIDERS ISN'T A GOOD FIT FOR RUSSELL. THE RAIDERS NEED ALL KINDS OF HELP, ESPECIALLY ON THE LINE. AT LEAST WITH RUSSELL, YOU HAVE A MOBILE QB WHO'S BIG AND HARD TO BRING DOWN WITH A STRONG ARM. IT'S A START. NOW WHY DO YOU THINK RUSSELL IS NOT A GOOD FIT AND WHO WOULD BE YOUR PICK?

So long as the rest of the draft went to helping him out. Where the Raiders are now, a rookie QB isn't going to hold them back. They just need to spend plenty of picks on the line to create competition and make sure JaMarcus Russell doesn't end up like David Carr.......i.e. his internal pocket clock doesn't get screwed up from getting sacked in 1.5 seconds all the time...

what the raiders need is a tougher "o" line, they need to draft a couple of the best "o" line guys and pick up a veteran lineman.they should also go out & get a veteran qb.seems like they may have shored up the rb situation with rhodes & jordan.a great "o"line goes a long way in opening holes for the rb's and keeps the qb's from being crushed on every snap.

Incorrect... Russell is a PERFECT fit..

He can run the ball a lot, he can pass the ball a lot.. now they need to build a offensive line to protect him...

Brady Quinn's a pansy.. so beg that the raiders don't be foolish and draft him...

If he has good blocks and WRs does better. It all depends on the oline because raiders has WRs and RB, oline has to give the QB or the RB to be productive.
