i precisely dont know the differences of orissa & tamilnadu. i know a few, like cities likes chennai, coimbatore are absolutely doing wonderful, whereas i never heard of orissa much, other than politics. i m sure tamilnadu is the best, when compared to most of the states in india, not only orissa. i guess orissa is much much backward compared to tamilnadu, they are no where near. good luck

I have little knowledge concerning Orrisa but a lot concerning T.N. and this State in my opinion (a retired American living and traveling in India and specifically T.N. for 33 years) really "SUCKS". It is the most restrictive state (pertain to laws,etc) in all of India. Taxes are very high also. Just a few months ago they passed a new law requiring everyone to wear helmets who ride or drive a motorcycle. This is absolute absurdity especially since there is no traffic laws in T.N. or any where else in India. They want to constrict and rule every aspect of your life in this state. Orrisa is more laid back and a much more free and less restrictive state.
