I have to admit that I do not find american humour funny. There are very few american comedians that can make me laugh out loud. Jackie Mason, Rodney Dangerfield and YES Andy Kaufman.
Andy was a comic genious, his alter-ego Tony Clifton was hilarious. I loved the way Andy would come on stage and be very coy and shy and then burst into a fantastic Elvis impression and then instantly shy again. He was fab and he died way way too young.

Kaufman is in the same league as Peter Sellers, Spike Milligan, Graham Chapman and others of that ilk.
A comic genius on stage or in front of the cameras and a sad depressed individual off it.
His comedy was shocking, but in many cases the shock was needed to create a sense or relief along with the humour.

Although I am not one for a lot of American comics Andy Kaufman was indeed unique. He as a true genius and he is a legend in his field. It is sad that we lost him at such an early age. His comic ability was one that will never be seen again, may he rest in peace and I am sure he is making them laugh wherever he is!

He was rubbish. I can't be doing with the idea that anything unique makes it hilarious. It's like people forget that funny is supposed to be.....funny!!
