On Sunday's, he can be found swilling beer on his boat out at the lake - he hasn't been to a church in years, but still wants the words "in god we trust" on his money and the ten commandments on display in public buildings.
He also wants it to be federally mandated that "christmas" is used instead of "xmas", and that creationism is taught in our public schools instead of science.

Yes, actually. It is American.
.. Adjectivally speaking, to be American, means a freedom of thought and protest.
..That we can be one religion, and protect another. That we can set forth a democratic system that allows men of every creed, to collectively assemble a moral and just standard.
Whether or not a person has children, should not dictate the value of their vote for funding or supervising our public schools.
And in the same sense, regardless if one is able to give birth, should not refrain them from voting on reproductive rights.
Whether or not a person goes to Church, should not negate their allegiance to Pro-Choice. And one person can rally for Civil Unions, but still adhere to the fact that "marriage" is a Biblical term.
It is not the position that one takes, which determines what should be law, but in fact it must remain law, that we are allowed any position we choose.

I think maybe you need to agree to disagree and enjoy the differences you have with your neighbour. You can have differing opinions but still treat each other like good people.
This sounds simply like the way he was raised, with specific guidelines, and he doesn't want to see his way of life abolished, there's nothing wrong with that, or with how he thinks life should be lived. You don't agree and that's fine too.
I think it's easier if you have a choice, of whether or not to put your flag up, whether or not to go to a school that prays and whether or not to have an abortion. But again this is just my opinion.
The point is still that you can agree to disagree, and be friends regardless of your differences. It is the USA, the melting pot as it were.

Sounds like you have a VERY opinionated neighbor. But that is what America is all about..we can all have our opinions and be able to share them. We may not like the other guys opinion but they have the right to state it. And just because he has no children doesn't mean he can't have ideas about how to raise kids. I am not agreeing with him on all counts but he does have a mind of his own and his own beliefs just as you do. And from your addition it sounds like you just want to be validated and not get honest answers.

Sounds like a pretty closed-minded and hypocritical guy. Believing in something is one thing, trying to force these beliefs on others is something different but being an upholder of moral standards when one isn´t able to embody these standards oneself is totally inappropriate....

I'd personally just wave and keep walking when ever you see him, better that way less to listen to. You will keep your blood pressure in the normal range if you just keep walking.

I am not currently living in America but I did as child...and I think sometimes pple just "intrude" into others people's lives out of curiosity out of wanting to do a good deed towards others..but then again....isn't America a free speech supporter....? Then again..I think he is exercising this right --as he is entitled to.-

Why do you have a problem with our country being founded on christian principles? If you don't like it, you're free to move somewhere else in the world. There's nothing wrong with wanting morality in our country. He may not be the shining image of morality himself, but there's nothing wrong with not wanting our country to go down the toilet.
