I do not condone recreational drug use of any kind while pregnant.
"Chilled out" baby or not, it is dangerous and potentially harmful.
The children may seem to be "born healthy" or appear normal at first, but the tragic results of drug abuse during pregnancy usually rear their heads as the children get older. Babies exposed to drugs in utero can and do have heart abnormalities, increased rate of childhood cancers, neurological and developmental delays, decreases in language acquisition, impared memory function, attention span problems, lower impulse control, lower reading skills and don't generally perform as well on analysis and reasoning tasks as they hit adolescence.
There's plenty of research out there to prove it.
Do yourself and your baby a favour - DON'T.

well as an almost qualified midwife and an already qualified nurse, I'd just like to say that you have very irresponsible friends indeed.
The reason that your friends babies were 'chilled out' is because they had become addicted to the 'green'. Do these friends of yours know the long term affects of this drug?? Well, those babies that seem so 'chilled out' now will have serious mental health problems by the time they are 10. I will guarantee it!!
Smoking 'green' is no different to a pregnant woman taking heroin or any other drug. It does pass over the placenta!!
If you are smoking 'green' then my suggestion to you is stop 'cos you are harming your baby.

I think it is so wrong, if you want to kill your own brain cells thats fine, but why give baby a head start?? I had a friend in high school who smoked bud through her whole pregnancy, and it really used to bother me, not only is it dangerous to the fetus, she did not have money to spend on it-so she should have just taken the food right out of her baby's mouth

ahahahhahahhahahhahhahahahhahahhah that's humorous! there is no longer something incorrect with smoking weed, its a private decision. as long as you're attentive to what you're doing on your physique. green tea however...that's only humorous. yet despite the fact that floats your boat.

When I was preggers I spoke to my DR about smoking not green but solid and was told that as long as I didn't smoke too much it would be cool but in excess the baby will have flash backs and thus cry all the time.
My baby was perfect she hardly ever cried. As a toddler she was brighter than most kids her age but that was because I never stopped talking to her and how she is a teenager and her abilities are close to a 15 year old.
So you decide just don't be one of those chilled out pot heads that can't be bothered to be a parent children need stimulation- I say that because I know people who are more interested in getting stoned with their friends rather than being good parents.
Good luck with your new arrival i hope it all goes smoothly for you.
Peace

I smoked until I was 8 1/2 months and my son is just fine. I'm not sure that smoking green will cause your child to be chilled out though, my son is two and has TONS of energy. Smoking helped to ease the morning sickness. So to answer your question, no, I don't think there's anything wrong with it.
*Please keep in mind that enhailing ANY type of smoke (weed or cigaret) isnt exactly healthy for you or your babies lungs. And some OBGYNs test pregnant womens urine for illegal drugs, if you come up positive you'll have Child Protective Services all up in your sh!t.
....just thought I'd add that my son was a healthy 8 lbs 8 oz

A preganat woman will permanantly alter her fatus' brain chemistry by smoking weed. Your friend's babies may look mellow, but so do brain damaged children. The effect will be obvious when these kids are in high school if not before. In a world of competition and education who would knock off those kinds of IQ points from their child?
You need new friends. They're losers and you don't need that kind of trash around an impressionable baby.

i wont smoke green and i am pregnant it is just stupid why put unnecessary drugs in your body or your babys body. it is selfish to do that when you are pregnant. it is not all about yourself anymore now you have a baby to think about. the health of thebaby comes first. so do whats best for you and your baby and dont take any chances

the chilled out baby has nothing to do with th esmoking green. But you would be exposing your baby to other health issues maybe at birth or later in his/her years.
