After last frost. Mark your row ends with stakes. As the berry plants grow they will spread. At the end of the season, move the wooden stakes over two feet, run over the entire patch with a push lawnmower set on the HIGHEST setting, and then run a roto-tiller ONCE down the orginal rows. This assures that you will have "fresh" plants the following year. The next year, in the fall, repeat the above, moving the stakes back the other direction by two feet. Repeat process year after year. We always did our berry patch this way and had great results.

Keep the plants covered with netting when the berries come on or the birds will get your berries. DO NOT over water or the berries will get moldy. Enjoy!

If the soil in the pot and the crowns freeze it will kill them. In northerly climates such as yours even plants in the ground need to be heavily mulched each fall to protect them from freezing.
