Help! My snail has been hiding in the plants and now has white foam coming out of his shell, what's happening?

He's been fine until lately, but kindof stopped moving around the other day, now i see whitish foam coming out of his shell!

Thanks everyone - I will check him. If it is eggs, can I just scoop them up and get rid of them if I don't want any more snails?

PS - (s)he's a mystery snail, about 1" long.

This sounds like an apple snail laying eggs on the leaves. The eggs have the foamy stuff that lets the eggs stick to the leaves. If you have a male snail also, these eggs are most probably fertilized and they will become babies!! If you do not have a male the eggs are in fact infertile. Unless you just recently got this snail. Some snails can keep fertile eggs for weeks before laying. If the eggs have a dark center they are fertilized.

Sounds like baby snails are on the way. Snails are hermaphrodites and don't necessarily have to have another snail in the tank to reproduce.

Sounds rather like eggs to me... although I suppose it's possible he has died.
To know, try pushing on the shell's "trap door" - if it collapses or oozes, he's dead.
What kind of snail is it, do you know?

its not hiding its just going to live there its confortable. HAHAHAHA thats normal it usualy comes out when pressure is applied to the bottom of the snail not.....well......mutation?
