I just saw a woman on the street, with high heels slipping on the sidewalk and helped her to get up but she was clearly embarrassed as I was. Why me though?

All the time. Most recently, a man was walking down some bleachers talking to me as I sat. He fell all the way down and it really looked like it hurt. I didn't know what to do....I think I was more embarrassed than him. Why is that?
