I frequently find dead shrews and mice on the back deck. They are often bleeding. Once I even found a bunny. We live in a rural area not near any industry.

Should still let my cats outside.

I would take a good walk around and look for any poisons or any significant threat to wildlife in your area. (scattered scrap metal and such.) You may want to contact your local dnr or wildlife refuge. A more expensive solution could be to take one of the dead animals to the vet for an examination to find out the problem. I'm not too sure if they would do that though. Think what would mice shrews and bunnys eat that other common animals in your area dont. Where do they eat? One other possible theory could be that someone doesnt like you and are showing it in a really really weird way. Also are they bleeding from the mouth or a wound?

It's problably your cat bringing them back to you. That's quite common. My sister lives in the country and one of her cats is a hunter and she's always finding dead mice, moles, etc. However if your cat's not an outside cat and you have no other ideas I suggest you call the county animal control and inform them of this. And keep your kitty inside until they get to the bottom of it.

No. Don't let your cat outside. It will die.
You should tell your neighborhood to recycle or clean the area because that is very harmful.

Your cats are likely the cause, not pollution.
