Yeah J Dub doesn't know anything about baseball...... Anyways its really hard for a DH to win MVP. Because its hard to be the "Most Valuable Player" when you only play 1 part of the game. If you think about it he gets up and plays about 10 mins 4 or 5 times a game. (could be different based on pitch count and time on base). But how could you give him the MVP when there is someone else with good numbers, maybe less than his but they play every inning on defense... That's why he will not win MVP.

Why would a DH win MVP. When a player is in the running for a gold glove and the batting title then you have the making of an MVP. Quit being such a homer.

I agree with most other answers, no because he is a DH.
The game of baseball has 9 players that take the field & bat, not 8 batters and a DH.

disregard j dub's answer because all of the competition he named play in the other league. But no, ortiz will never win an mvp as long as he plays DH and the Yankees exist.

His offensive nubers are MVP material, but he will never win as a DH. Lets look at a-rod, he won it 2 years ago, but he would not have won it if papi was a every day fielder
(and i am a yankee fan!!!)

It is extremely difficult to win this award as a DH. He would have to have a monster year and boston would have to win their division.

No, definently NOT, He can bat but he can't field!
He better get another position like first base and improve!

BATTING IS NOT THE WHOLE BALLGAME!

He could get 70 hrs 160 rbis and .360 BA and still wouldnt get a MVP.

I don't think so. If any year, it should've been 2 years ago, but since he didn't, he won't ever. And plus, he's a DH... he won't unless he goes to another position!

he plays DH too much and the voters always go for the every day field player so probably not
