I would think it odd that my father was his own brother-in-law, I'd be aghast that I was my own cousin, and I'd feel cheated out of birthday and Christmas presents from aunts, uncles and grandparents.

It is what it is, I guess. Probably a good many more couples are brother and sister than anyone suspects. I've often wondered how many blokes married their girlfriend when she got pregnant, assuming the condom broke or leaked or something, and when the baby looked just like mom and no one else, no one ever suspected that the father was really the girl's brother.

Incest is best avoided.
However in rare cases , if incest does happen, I would hope for the following :
(1) It is by consent & desire from both sides (i.e. no force)
(2) It is between adults
(3) It is temporary ...... i.e. maybe a few times or for a few months, but it should not become a dual-relationship ....... i.e. on 1 hand you are mother-son & in another you are husband-wife or lovers
(4) Between closely related people (i.e. immediate family) the act of incest should never lead to pregnancy / babies ........ this is called genetic in-breeding & often results in deformed or unhealthy babies.
