Leave the space blank as if you inadvertently forgot to put the reason, that way if you are called for an interview and you are asked about it, you can then explain face to face and maybe soften your side of the story.

Please also note that your application will not be bypassed because that space is blank, but at an interview when they are going through the application they most likely will ask you the reason.

I will not suggest that you lie either on the form or in person because they can check with your previous employer (and they just might). Best of luck.

Don't Lie whatever you do.
Be honest.
Just state: Pervious employer terminated employment.

If they ask for more information be honest about what happened. Do not just blame it on the employer. If you made a mistake, be honest and speak responsibly. I made a mistake and my employer chose to terminate my employment. I have learned from the experience and have adjusted my attitude and work ethic to do better in the future.
If you take responsibility most people will respect you for that AS LONG AS YOU FOLLOW THROUGH with trying to not make the same type of mistake again.
Best Of Luck

I always say that I was downsized or my position was fazed out. You do not specifically need to say that you were fired.
Just make sure when you talk about your employment that you are positive. People can read between the lines when you start bad mouthing a past employer.

Either list the reason as "Employer terminated employment" or don't put that job down at all. Just don't lie, it might catch up with you later and you'll get fired from a 2nd job...

Might I suggest "position eliminated by employer"

Also, you can never go wrong with "seeking a new professional challenge"

aka I quit cuz I was bored at my old job
