This question is not intended to be amusing, trivial or disrespectuful. For a lot people this is the equivalent of asking "Where were you when JFK was shot?"
In a matter of minutes, no matter what you were doing at the time, was of no consequence.
As for me, my mom and I were at a casino on the Indian Reservation. My dad had flown from AZ to NY the night before for meetings. Mom and I were playing slots, when I glanced up at the TV monitors, they were across the room, and all I could see was smoke coming out of a tall building...some of you may know how blaise gamblers can be. Anyway, soon some of the employees were gathering,talking,pointing...so I went and got my mom. We were horrified when we saw what was going on , and saw the 2nd plane hit.Dad was heading in that direction..we did not hear from him for 18 hours.
If anyone lost anyone near and dear to them, I am so very sorry for you,and please don't take offense.

I was home and I did what every American should have done, I just did what I would be doing on any other day. I did'nt hear about it until I went to the store and saw some people talking and acting as if the Japanese navy had just bombed pearl harbor. Later that day I drove past the blood bank and felt good because there was a line of people from my home town who had lined up to donate blood. The line was out the door and around the building. Aside from that I was embarressed that my fellow American's had let their emotions be manipulated by a bunch of camel jockies who did'nt want to live anymore. How did such a wimpy country get to be the world's only superpower?

I was working in a convenience store and a customer came in and said a plane had crashed into the twin towers. I turned the TV on to see that a second one had just crashed into it as well. The woman thought it was an eerie coincidence that two would do that and I said it was terrorism. She had a hard time believing me.
I was then mesmerized by everything that followed. My nephew lives in NYC and he said it was the strangest thing he has ever seen to go outside his apartment building and to NOT see the Twin Towers anymore like he had for years. He also prevented an Indian cab driver from getting pummeled because people assumed he was Arab.
One of the thing that made me angry was when the police and fireman went rushing in to save people without making sure that the buildings were secure violating one of their own cardinal rules and causing hundreds more deaths.

I was working nights then, I had gotten home, cleaned up, ate a little, and was trying to catch a little sleep. After a while, I realized I wasn't drowsy yet, and I turned on the TV with the intention of watching just to kill time. The very first thing I saw was the second plane heading in.

I was at home in bed and I turned the tv on to listen to the traffic to only find out that a plane hit the world trade center and they didn't know if it was an accident or not, but i knew it wasn't, then about 15-20 minutes later another one hit and i knew it was no accident.I couldn't believe what i was seeing. The thing that got to me the most was the people that were trapped, I can't even grasp the thought of having to jump out the window to avoid burning to death. Just terrible.

I had just started as a manager for Chuck E. Cheese. I learned how to disabel their show and hook up live channels to their big screen. I still, to this day, have never seen images of what happened more than the planes hitting the towers. I remember when I used to work on Wall Street and go to the base of the towers for lunch (they had some good shows).
My wife actually called the Chuck E Cheese to tell me. She was watching a show on New York and the camera scanned up and showed the first plane hitting the first tower. She sais it was a sight she would never forget

I was watching Good Morning America and getting my daughter ready for school. I saw the second plane hit live. I was watching with my jaw on the floor. I called my husband and told him to turn around and come back home, but he didn't believe me. He kept saying I must be mistaken until he got to work and saw it on TV, then he came home. It was so surreal. I kept doubting what I was seeing, because I kept thinking that it just CAN'T be real. Especially when the pentagon was hit. Then it didn't seem like an accident anymore. I learned that day what it truly means not to believe your own eyes.

I was in my car on my way to work when I heard about the first plane on the radio. They told me about the 2nd plane when I made it to my desk. They ended up shutting down for the day after the Pentagon was hit. I spent the rest of the day keeping the kids away from the TV. They were only 2 and I didn't want them to see how horrible things in life can be.

I was off work that day. Just flipping through the channels on tv and saw something that looked interesting. I turned it on right after the first plane hit the first tower. I was glued to the tv all day after that. I just sat there and held my little boy real tight and cried a lot. He was two 12 days from his first birthday. I kept wondering what kind of world he was going to grow up in. I was scared for him.

I was watching the towers fall from a construction site in the Bronx(one of the five boroughs of N.Y.C.)where I was working. One of my co-workers had a portable radio and I thought he was playing when he said the towers are falling.I saw it fall, and I was thinking about the children that were not going to see mom or dad at the end of the day when returning from school. It reminded me that life can end at any moment, and you should appreciate what you have.We take one another for granted and we should start to show appreciation for those that help us through this drama we call life.

At the time, I had a 2nd shift job & was asleep 'til 11:30 am, EST. I got the news right away, when my alarm radio went off, as of course, it was the lead news item.
I ran into an old buddy of mine at the bus stop a little later on & he said that it was really bad news, "It'll give Bush a chance to look Presidential." Sad to say, it seems to have worked.
