If she is looking at a room that seems to be bare, take her to second hand shops and garage sales. Give her a budget - per year - to spend on furniture or whatever she uses to decorate. She will see how much more economical used furniture is. Stress to her that this is a matter of money, not taste. She can spend money wisely and have good taste in decorating her room the way she wants but money is limited.
