it might help but it is possible to "bounce" an IP address through another computer so that your IP address will appear as theirs, also you can string half a dozen of these WINGATES together to attack another PC

A fast way to show them their IP address is to add an image from DanaSoft.com
Just add some code to your web page(s) (eg at the bottom)
[see links further down]
It shows (a) user's IP, (b) ISP name (c) operating system and browser and (d) some text message
For me, it showed my IP and ISP, then said I am running Windows XP and using Firefox (true :) )
Note that this will show the 'viewers' IP - so everyone looking at your site will see their own IP address (I put in the 'Big Brother is watching you' text, and it might scare some innocent visitors to your website, so if you go to Danasoft you can change the design and text - sometimes you will see a little mouse when that image is displayed, other times no mouse... you choose).
As for other methods, PHP has a way to display the IP, and a built-in facility (SSI) may work, but these depend on where your website is hosted.
You may also be able to get information from the "web statistics" that your hosting firm might provide. If they don't let you see web stats (or charge a fee) you might want to use SiteMeter - you get a free web counter, but if you login the counter shows the previous page (where the user found the link to your site), their browser, some IP information, and how long they stayed.
If you can view your web stats, you should be able to identify the exact IP address. Some hosting services allow you to block specific IPs (or ranges of IPs), but even doing that is not foolproof as people can use proxy servers to get connected via other IP addresses. Sorry if that sounds a bit negative, but spammers can be a major pain...
One further problem is that spamming might be done by a web-bot - not a human but under computer control - so showing their IP won't concern the spammer at all.
It all depends on how / what is being done. Sometimes a blog can require entries are 'approved' or if you are running a discussion board, you can make signup of new users restricted so you can check if you think it is a human or a spammer PC. Hope that helps you a bit...

If you are using PHP to program the web site, then go to http://www.php.net/ and you will find codes for IP address recording and displying. On my web site I use IP recording and we (I and my friend operate the server) keep a log for a log time. (year or two)
Hope this would help.

everytime some visits you need to run a php script to write the value for $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'] to a text file with a timestamp information, this can then be viewed to see the IP Address and the time visited
I hope this helps
