Genetics, as it is said often plays a part in our well being, but regardless of that a human can maximize his well being through:

Living in a serene atmosphere, having a routine to life, away from pollution, stress free life, vegetarian food, plentiful water, and exercise as often. It seems also that your thinking has a profound effect on your wellbeing, so think, eat, and live well and you will be blessed with a long life. (This seems to be the ideal world, and the closer you get to it, the closer your results will be to a longer and most importantly healthy life)

Despite all the books and advice you can get on the subject, I am afraid its completely genetic. If your parents live long, then chances are you will too. If your parents die naturally young, the so will you no matter how healthy you live your life. Sure factors like smoking and unhealthy eating can contribute, but it does nothing to the overall survival of your body.

Life in a high altitude (like the mountains) prolongs life incredibly. I think a Buddhist monk once said the secret to immortality was a breathing technique.

A tramp begged at this millionaires' office. "Please help me, I am hungry - I do not drink, I do not smoke and I do not have any loose women" . The millionaire took him home to show the wife. "Look darling, is this what you would like to change me into?"

I think it is in our genes. Nothing you can do can prevent any inherent illness or condition. Obviously, playing in the street turns the odds against you.

A friend of ours wanted a massive 60th birthday party, inviting everybody he had ever met to attend. He was prepared to die the following day, as he had a very successful life. However, the day before this party he begged his wife to please cancell all arrangements.

My grandpa's grandpa lived to be 120. It's in the DNA. Plus, working outdoors and not being dormant like sitting here on the computers. But who wants to live that long.

God promises this in Ephesians 6:

1Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2"Honor your father and mother"—which is the first commandment with a promise— 3"that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth."

I honestly believe a lot of it is down to your genes as well as your attitude to life, keeping your mind as well as your body active is a huge help too, some people give up all too soon on life before they even bother to see what it has to offer them.

It must be to bake biscuits three times a day, eat plenty of bacon and work in the garden.

My grandmother lived two months past her 100th birthday and that's what she did.
