Take the time to figure out what you want to do and give yourself a chance to relax. You can always volunteer your time to a good cause (animal shelter, or whatever else interests you) if you wanted to stay busy during your time off. When you decide to go back to work, you'll feel more refreshed and focused, and better able to find a job you really like.

I was in this situation last year, I took UI but still looked around for anotehr job, but waited for a really good offer before accepting anything. I started going to the gym, so that I didn't feel too much liek a bum, need a reason to get up you know. Read some books did a lot of walking and hanging out with people, after they were done work and/or school.

Take some time off. I got laid off last year, I love it. I stay home and work my online business instead. I am much happier for it. I am making a small profit so far. Not as much as a paying job, but I will earn way more than that this time next year because of my efforts. My neighnours know I don't have a job, I don't care what they think. They will be working stiffs with thier job (just over broke) I make more and more every month. The online business only cost $10 per month but I make enough to cover that expense. email me mark@homeforwork.ws

Well, many people spend at least some of their lives on UI, usually not by choice.
Some people may judge you for it, but they're usually nasty bosses themselves (or young people who are ignorant of it all).
Take the insurance, and look for better work. You don't have to take time completely off, just relax and don't jump into the first job you see. Wait for the right job to come along.

Accept the money and take your time finding a job. At least this way you can be kind of picky and you won't have to take a job that you don't want. If you feel like a bum (which you shouldn't), take a couple bucks and donate to the SPCA or other charity once a week. You could always take a college or graduate course for something to do.

Take a couple of weeks off to relax your mind first then, search for a new job. You don't want to carry unnecessary baggage with you to your next job.. When you relax you will have more balance and be stress free... Remember stress is not your friend..
**For the most part you should do whats best for you, and not worry about how other people want you to live your life**
Good luck and take care!!!

Hey I just realized your a Canadian to. When my salary contract ended recently I went on E.I. I'm finishing some safety certification this month and going to Fort McMurray where I'll make more at a better job. It's about what you do with the time off that matters. E.I. retraining programs rock!!!

Since you stated that the job has affected your innerself, it would be better to spend time to heel from that ill-effect. When you are depressed then your judgement or decision could be biased or confused. So relax yourself and prepare your mind and body fresh for the next job.

Do what you think is best for you. If you fell like sitting around lounging for a few months do it. But if you think you would be more happier with finding another job, do it! I know that my job keeps me occupated and time flys by. Besides it gives me time away from my husband. :) (Sometimes you need time to yourself) Here to talk :)
