I say to each his own, but I'm also curious why there are so many guys into so many levels of cross dressing. There are the straight husbands/boyfriends that will wear their partners panties under their suit. Or there is the guy that goes all out in drag on a Friday night and then lives out an ordinary life the rest of the time.
I guess I'm wondering why does it seem to be just guys. You never see women cross dressing unless they might be trans gendered, but obviously they are in the minority on this subject.

It's going to differ from person to person.

For some it's a sexual fetish in which wearing the clothes is sexually stimulating.

For some it's a way of expressing the feminine aspects of their personality.

For some it's the lure of the taboo.

Some are very sensual, and are attracted to the look and feel of the clothes, not because they're women's clothes, but because they're soft and brightly colored and come in attractive prints and patterns.

For some it isn't cross dressing but an early stage of GID that occurs before the person accepts that she is trnssexual.

I suspect that most of the time it's for the purpose of expressing the feminine parts of their personality that aren't given release in other situations.

Good question - I think for a few it is just a fetish the feel of the womens clothes.

The idea that it is ok for a woman to wear pants and jeans and not get any flack from society is part after all if a Female wear jeans or pants nothing is said but if a guy wears a skirt or a dress then everything is different.

Could be just the fact some are in touch with the feminine side.

hard to say. Some do it for fun as what you have said with the husband/boyfriend who will wear his wife panties for the night and then the one who goes all out will either be full-filling a fantasy or is trying to see what it is like being a woman because he might want to transform into a female through surgery

Each have their reasons and hard to generalize all who cross-dress

There are many different answers to this question. Most men do it for sexual stimulation. Men don't normally get to wear sexy clothing and it's a release to wear soft, silky pretty clothing. Some men just like the way the clothes look and feel. Some men, including myself, feel that they are women trapped in male bodies. We dress as women because we feel we are women. I am dressing as the person I am, a woman.

Well women can't cross-dress. I mean if they wear jeans and a t-shirt you can't really call them cross dressers. Women can wear anything and not be called one where if a man wears a purple dress shirt everyone immediately thinks hes a gay cross-dresser. Guys like to dress sexy too you know. Its just that sexy clothing is made more for women. I don't cross-dress but I enjoy wearing a nice pair of tights/spandex. Nothing wrong with wanting to be sexy. But I don't go out in public dressed like that.

Skirts are not a girls only item, guys can wear certain skirts without a problem in public like jean skirts at knee length. I've seen a LOT of couples out there with denim skirts on both or just the male. To be honest it's kinda hot ! :">

Have you ever heard the term 'two-spirit'? Native customs and folklore recognize 'gay natives' as 'two-spirit' This meaning they house the spirit of man and woman in their souls. They may be men but have the compassion and understanding of women OR they may be women and have the strength to take on a man's world.

By dressing the part they feel (and I must admit - many can be very convincing) they feel the energy and the charge of who they are.

I guess it would be like saying - put a football outfit on a policeman and set him on the playing field .. The policeman would feel the part of a football star and play is best - whereas .. place a tutu on a hockey player .. you can bet that hockey player will at least 'prance' and 'perioette' around the room once.

Interesting but true.

Cheers,

I don't know but then again I would not say you don't see women cross dressing. I mean if a dress is woman's apparel then aren't slacks men's apparel?

And what about Melissa Etheridge in a tuxedo at the Oscar awards show?. Even if you say slacks are unisex we HAVE to agree that a tuxedo is mens wear!

Because it allows us to explore and enjoy the feminine side of our natures. It brings about an inner peace as well, a form of escape. Also to clothing looks so good and feels great. I just love it when I feel the hem of my skirt brush against my legs as I walk.

It's because women have the power although most do not use it. Some men are jealous of women being so powerful and want to find a way to relate to this issue.
