You're currently a Michigan student!!
I think your time will be a little slow...
OLD Rocky Blier of the Steelers ran a 4.4 back in his day.
However, give it a try...it may be that you are 3rd string and just suiting up for home games...but at least you're on the team.
Your size might enable you to qualify for scholarships at other "big" schools, by the way. If you settle on just one school and insist on "walking on"; I would say you've limited yourself down to the furthest element.
Look into classes that the team is taking for Spring training...like: American Football, Weight Traing for Football, and Advanced Physical Conditioning.
Make sure you talk to the coaching staff with your intentions.
Then go for it...anything is possible.

If you bench 375 and run a 4.45 40 then why aren't you on scholarship somewhere.........If all the things you've said are true, I'd say you have a good chance of making the team

Many colleges have walk-on tryouts just for guys like you. By summer 2008, the tryouts probably will have already occurred, so you may want to make sure you train hard and are ready before then.
Also, have you played football before? That's a big difference maker right there. It's so hard to go in and learn everything when you've never played before.

Running back is an awfully talent-loaded position, so I don't think it's very likely. Have you considered fullback or special teams? There may be more potential at those spots.
If you're serious about this, you really should contact Lloyd Carr right away because you may already have missed spring practice, which could have helped a lot.

It really depends on how thin they are at RB and how hard you are willing to work. If you work very hard, they might put you on the kick coverage unit even if there's no room for you at RB.
Find out if they require a tape of you playing organized football. I know that Florida requires one before a player can even try to walk on, so it wouldn't surprise me if Michigan does as well.
Best of luck!

Very possible.... i actually have scouts from michigan watch me tho... but how it sounds.. if you get to michigan... we could be team mates... but i'm thinking about going to hawaii instead...
Keep up on running, lifting, and try to do makeshift drills... they will help you learn to turn and get you used to it. Then get to their camp and show your stuff... and hope your work payed off...
good luck, hope to see you in the navy n maize in a couple years

Realistically? No. Should you TRY? YES. Just because you have a small outside chance doesn't mean you don't have a chance.
