I own a dutch rabbit and they are very nice domesticated rabbits. They love people and like to be loved on. They grow up to be about 3 to 5 lbs (about the size of a small cat). If you are planning on keeping one at home, you need a good sized cage (about 3 times or more the length of the rabbit). Either use lamb's wool for bedding or recycled paper bedding (cedar and pine chips can cause liver problems because rabbits chew on their bedding). I also use the recycled paper bedding for the litter box. As for diet, rabbit pellets supply all the necessary nutrients, but you must also feed the rabbit hay every day for proper digestion. If you are going to feed fresh vegetables as a treat, introduce them slowly and in small amounts. You can litter train a dutch rabbit so that the rabbit can have free run of the house after it is trained (make sure all chewable electrical cords are up and out of the way).

For more information, check out www.rabbit.org. Also, a great book on rabbit care is the House Rabbit Handbook by Marinell Harriman.
