Using Cortez's trick to capture Montezuma of the Aztecs as his inspiration. Pizarro did the same thing. He asked the Inca leader for a meeting and then kidnapped him when he accepted, killing about 7000 defenseless Inca's in the process. Both Indian leaders were killed by the Spanish after extorting their tribes for gold for their return. The Indians complied, the Spanish got their gold and the Indians got nothing. Right from the beginning the New World's peoples were lied to, cheated, robbed and massacred. The Spanish were especially good at it.

Their 'pagan' religion and their gold.
When the 'conquistadores' arrived in the New World, they had only certain things on their minds: sex, gold, sex, gold: well, you get the picture. But they arrived as potential gods.
Misunderstanding the provenance of these 'gods', the Inca lay-down without a fight. Or did they?
We'll never know. The Spanish monks and priests destroyed almost every Incan artifact that they found. Indeed, chances are that they were directed to do so by the Papacy.
However, European soldiers and sailors, being whom they were, spread STDs into the New World. With no immune systems capable of denying the influx of killer-viruses, most indigenous populations 'rolled-over and died'.
So: Pizarro conquered through disease...
