Howdy. I have a friend from Spain who is interested in working as a waiter in California to learn English and travel around a bit. I was wondering if anyone had any good tips or knowledge about how difficult it is for a Spanish (not mexican) person to work as a waiter there for up to 4 months. I have worked in many restaurants, but never been a waiter. Could any waiters/waitresses (from Cali or anywhere stateside that know the "ins" and "outs" of the business) tell me what her chances are at being able to find work there? Thanks!

Your friend cannot work in the States for four months , it's illegal.

What he has to do he needs to find a restaurant who is willing to employ him, and then apply for work permit.

He he enters the States with a tourist visa , and finds a job in the "Black", if he gets caught, he will be deported and banned from re-entering the States for ten years?
