Yes,u can but it is better to use a young plant as Aloe Vera can mutiply in a few weeks if u take good care of them. They don`t need alot of water but love the sunshine.
Happy planting.

I have tried this with other plants and was successfull.I got a bottle of clonex rooting hormone gel and plucked a leaf off of a plant and dipped the end of the leaf in the gel.I then placed the leaf into some fresh soil and added water to it.It worked well and i had healthy plants to put in my garden.

My daughter broke off a leaf at the base of the mother plant. She tried one in water and one in soil. Both worked about the same.
The one in water...she used a piece of cardboard, cut an X in the middle, and stuck the pointed end of the leaf through. She sat the cardboard on top of a glass of water but just barely allowed the leaf to touch the water. She had to place rocks on the corners of the cardboard to hold it in place. When the water evaporated, she added a little more. Plain tap water that was room temperature.
