How does a Rabbit and eggs that signify fertility have anything to do with commemorating Christ death and his resurrection? I have looked and looked in the bible and there isnt one thing that even suggests that we should have implemented this.

Christ at Luke 22:19 instructed to "keep doing this in remembrance of me", referring to the remembrance of this last meal. Jesus never said celebrate his resurrection with a pagan holiday. He encouraged us to remember his ascension, and base our faith on the resurrection.

I'm not bashing anyone, but I am bashing the false teaching of this Easter, as it has no biblical ties. The word Christian ultimately means "Christ follower". We follow what our Lord says "to the letter", not what someone else says. If you want to celebrate Jesus' resurrection,GREAT! But don't include a pagan holiday with it.

Please just do your homework on Easter and see if it is a belief that Christians should do, if not then pray to God and ask for the truth on the matter

I believe you can celebrate the spiritual Easter, the celebration of the resurrection and atonement of Christ, and still enjoy the holiday that Easter has become. It's about family, being together, having a nice Sunday dinner, giving gifts and treats to small children, and attending worship services to rededicate your life to doing what is good and true and right.

Rabbits and eggs and bunnies have nothing to do with the Christian Easter, it's true. They are symbols of spring and renewal that were borrowed from the pagans to attract pagans to Christianity. In fact, even the word "Easter" is borrowed from the pagans. It comes from the name for the Teutonic goddess of the spring -- Oestre or Eastre (also the origin of the word "east").

Also, to correct a previous answer:

The pagan spring holiday is called Ostara and falls on the vernal equinox (usually March 20th or 21st). Imbolc is at the beginning of February and is tied to St. Brigid's Day or Groundhog's Day. It's a celebration of light and the ending of winter (similar to the whole Groundhog thing and the 6 more weeks of winter).

The maypole is for the pagan holiday of Beltane (held on May 1st) and celebrates summer and the beginning of the planting season.

Almost every old pagan group celebrated spring. the waking of the earth from it's winter slumber, the fruitfulness of the earth returning.
For the celtic people, this was called Imbolic. Celebrations included young maiden dancing around a pole that symbolized the male phallus, wrapping it in ribbon which symbolized the maidens virginity. It became known as dancing around the maypole and people had no idea what they heck they were doing.
The Catholic church decided that to aid in "converting" the pagans, they would use this time to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. Changing it from the waking of the earth from it's winter slumber, to their christ waking from his death. The Catholic church has always been lead by a group of money and power hungry liars and idolaters.

All through the bible we are given the example of God's mercy. His people were so stubborn, and kept following the ways of the heathen. This made God very angry, but they were given chance, after chance, after chance. But almost every generation, fell back into pagan idolatry. When Jesus came, nothing changed, the same rules applied regarding paganism, it's evil. Right now in 2007 we are still faced with paganism and it is our choice to partake in it or not. Once someone comes to the knowledge of the pagan roots of these holidays that they know that God forbids, how can they say they love God but partake in evil?

It's a hard cycle to break, considering most of our parents, and parents parents practiced these holidays and we were raised with them. The question is, are these holidays more important to you than pleasing your God? I sure hope not!

Rabbits and eggs certainely don't go together !
But you have to remember that in European countries, the egg (symbol of fertility and therefore, renewal of the earth) is associated with the hen.
That makes more sense !
As for the relaionship between egg, chicken, rabbis and so on ... couldn't it "simply" be MARKETING which must have been created a very long time ago !
