Seriously, get to the root of the problem.
Mice-cover all tiny holes so they do not get in your house, for those already in, use traps and get a cat. The cat's scent makes the mice go away. I do not know about this one so try it at your own risk: Feed mice with oatmeal and honey. Due to constipation the mice will die.
Roaches-maintaine your home as immaculate as possible, no bread crumbs anywhere. You will starve the roaches to death. Roaches hate clean environment. Make sure you scrub clean your kitchen of all the grease. Grease is food for roaches. Seal all cracks in your house because cracks serve as home for them, specially the kitchen and washroom. Their nest must be destroy with roaches hotels, boric acid powder, and the chalk the orietal stores sell. Nest are located where they have access to water (under the sinks, washroom and kitchen). Continue to have a super clean house by getting rid of the garbage daily (2x) and no more roaches in your home.
To prevent infestation, check your potatoes and groceries very well, they might have roaches or eggs, do not buy anything used electrical, and do not invite friends that have roaches in their coats due to their homes being infested.

If you drink a pop and do not dispose the can; this is a banquet for roaches. Each roach has 25 or more roaches baby every time they reproduce. You have to have an immaculate home and keep it up to avoid re-infestation. If you move out, you will be taking roaches with you in your furniture, and electricals.

One thing you can do that helps a lot is to clean any cabinet where you store food with PineSol or Lysol. Make sure any food like spaghetti is in a closed container. Don't just fold the top of the box in and put it back on the shelf.

All food should be in closed containers. Rubbermaid has containers in a wide variety of shapes and sizes and they are inexpensive.

Check your house for holes. Look where the cable wire is coming in, the pipes for plumbing, any place where a mouse could come in. Buy SOS pads and stuff them in the holes. Mice cannot chew through the material they are made of. Brillo pads or steel wool works also. SOS pads are cheaper.

Purchase carbolic acid (white powder form) at your local drug store. Mix with egg-white to form a very thick paste. Roll mint sized balls from the paste. Place the balls in strategic hiding places far from reach of your children if you have any(do not let your kids see this). Roaches will disappear for months! Had a problem with roaches until I used this very effective remedy. By the way, the balls have no smell that can be detected by the human sense of smell.

Please stop putting down chemicals before you give everyone cancer! Cats will get rid of the mice very efficiently. For roaches, you need an exterminator. Roaches laugh at insect repellant.
