Well I was in the same boat in Dec 2005 my best friend and sister in law died from brain cancer after a 6 year battle. Her husband and a bunch of us wanted to do the same thing that you have thought of. Her favorite movie was Nightmare Before Christmas so we all got a Jack Skellington face tattoed, it was awesome! Some people did there shoulders, and her husband and all his brothers got theres on the left forearm on the inside. I because I work in an office I wanted to be able to keep mine hidden if needed so I got my Jack face on my left thigh. However if I had thought about it a bit more I would have got it right over my left breast where the heart is, as that is where she will always be.

Ok ... you need to find another way to remember his life instead of permenantly marking your body. I am not a fan of tattoos and really find that the type of tat you are talking about is way over the top.
If you really want to memorialize your friend, then work with your local parks and recreation office and plant a tree in his name. Most places will allow you to do and then his memory will grow and change with the seasons and represent more of the life he had then some ink stuck in your skin.

Well it depends on how prominent you want it to be. Do you want everyone to be able to see it or is it just a private thing you want for yourself? Your shoulder would be a good place it you want to share it because at least you could still hide it if you need to (for an interview etc.) If it's a private thing then your lower back or your hip might be an option.
Sorry for your loss, I hope the tatoo helps with your healing.

I would suggest somewhere that you can see it...so not your back or shoulder. I have a friend that got a really awesome tat on her foot. It is a bit more painful because the skin on the top is thinner, but she did it for her grandma, and never regretted it. Plus, it looks really cool with flip flops. I'm really sorry about your friend.

Well it depends on if you wan to show it off, or keep it to yourself. I have a couple of suggestions: the arm, shoulder, upper back, or ankle. I don't think I would get it anywhere personal.

Put in on the back of your shoulder so he can always be looking over your shoulder.
You are a good friend.
I'm sooo sorry for your loss.

Yes, I understand you are mourning..
but a tattoo isn't going to do much but mark your body, don't do that to yourself, mourning in another way that your friend would be proud of you

Personally, I don't like tattoos and i don't think you should get one. Imagine getting married to one dude and another dude's name is tatted on your body. Don't make up your body like that.
BUT....................if you must, get it on your thigh. OR somewhere that you can hid it when you need to. Do not get it on your shoulder, Leg, or neck.

depends on the size too. Do you want everyone to see it or did you want it to be a private memorial. Good luck
