Some people have their biggest meal in the middle of the day and some have it in the evening, but most people today have a small mid-day meal - usually sandwiches, and perhaps some crisps and some fruit.

What is a typical English lunch?
Many children at school and adults at work will have a 'packed lunch'. This typically consists of a sandwich, a packet of crisps, a piece of fruit and a drink. The 'packed lunch' is kept in a plastic container.

Sandwiches are also known as a butty or sarnie in some parts of the UK.

Are sandwiches only common in England? I though everyone in the world ate sandwiches in one form or another. I don't know the purpose of this question - you may as well have asked if a common refreshment in England is tea.

Yes - I have a sandwich everyday for lunch. I love them, they suit the pace of working in London. You can get one quickly and eat it on the go without too much trouble.

If like me you often work through lunch they are a god send.

Yes, if there is no canteen at work for instance - bring something ready made and quick from home...Usually have a bit more than just a sandwich though, like fruit etc.
