I never took a pregnancy test. My period was 2 weeks late. Sunday, I noticed brown spotting. Monday, it was a little more pink. Yesterday, the spotting was a little bit heavier, and I kept passing what looked like tissue or blood clots in my urine. Today, the bleeding is a little heavier. I just don't feel right. It doesn't feel like my period at all. My lower stomach hurts but it's not like menstrual cramps. I thought I was pregnant because I had dizziness, fatigue, temperature changes, etc. I still don't think it's my period because of the way I feel. I don't have bloating. I don't have cramps. I don't have sore breasts. What's going on??? Am I having a miscarriage or is my period just being weird?

If you were pregnant, then there was something that was so wrong with whatever started to develop that it did what's called a "spontaneous abortion" (miscarriages that are that early aren't actually called "miscarriages," but, instead, are called "abortions" by medical people--'though laypeople don't like to use that word because it implies "deliberate baby-killing" in many people's minds).

In other words: Don't feel that you should mourn the loss of an actual baby, because it was never meant to be--if you WERE pregnant. And we don't even know that.

I was at a panel lecture at Stanford a few years back, where one of the keynote speakers was a scientist that had worked for the Bush administration. So I assume, since he was in with the Bush folks, that he must have been a "pro-lifer" (and many of the things that he said reinforced that opinion). But he said something that sort of surprised me (not so much because it's true as because this information might be the sort of thing that pro-lifers would want to see supressed, because they want us all to think that anything that keeps a fertilized egg from developing is ALWAYS exactly the same thing as baby-killing): He said that something like 80% of all conceptions (that is, the joining of a sperm and an egg) never implant at all, or that they spontaneously abort at a very early stage, because of inherent severe genetic defects that are incompatible with life. This is how nature keeps women from using up their precious bodily resources on pregnancies that cannot possibly produce a viable offspring. So that's why I'm urging you to not think of yourself as having "lost a baby"--because if you did, then it was something that was never meant to be, and it was never going to develop into a human being, with a soul and all...

I think that if you have the time and money to go in for either a checkup or a gyn exam, that might not be a bad idea. You can discuss your concerns and also make sure that your "female plumbing" is in good shape.

If you don't have cramps, it's most likely just your period. The fact that it's clotty is just from being late. There is a SMALL chance that it maybe a miscarriage, so you should take a pregnancy test to be sure it's not. The hormones would still indicate whether you were pregnant or not, but do take it as soon as possible before your hormones go back and then you'll never know. If your test indicates pregnancy, make an appointment with your doc to check and make sure you've passed all the tissue so you don't end up with any complications later.
Go buy the pregnancy test today.
Good luck.

I agree with the 1st answer posted up. You shouldn't worry about it because a miscarriage comes w/ a load of stress baggage. Don't go there. Let's just say it's your period. If you're having problems conceiving then see a Dr about it. I wouldn't worry too much though. Sometimes things happen outside the normal predictable cycle due to stress or change in lifestyle and we don't even realize it.
Anyhow, I would say you probably had your period.
Every now and then w/ my period I get fatigue and temp changes.

Your period could be weird or it could actually be a kidney / bladder infection. Difficult to say accurately from your discription, however, if you have been experiencing dizziness and fevers (I assume that is what you mean when you say change of temperature) and you are experiencing pains in the lower abdomen that are not crampy pains, than this could mean an infection - I'd see the doctor if I were you and have it checked out. Take a urine sample with you if you can.

Well it is possible that you are just having a light period. If you recently started taking birth control, it will make you spot like that for several days until your body gets used to the hormones. If you didn't start taking birth control and you really don't think it is a period, you should go to the doctor.
