My fiance and I decided a couple of weeks ago that we want to try to have a baby. So on March 2nd, 4th, and 5th we attempted. Since then he had to go out of town for famliy reasons and on March 11th in the evening I noticed that i was spotting a pinkish color. My last period started on February the 16th and I am usually closer to a 45 day cycle. It's driving the both of us crazy not knowing and I shouldn't be expecting my period until around the 26th or so. I've never had anything happen like this before, if anything I'm more of the type of person to be late or to skip a month. Do u think this could be implantation? How long will I have to wait to find out if I'm pregnant? Thanks for your help!

Have you "done it" with anybody yet?

Plus, if you're not married, why don't you wait, so you don't have to make your kid the ring bearer?

Well, it is possible.

Ovulation usually occurs around 14 days BEFORE your period is due, not 14 days after it starts (of course in a 28 day cycle this is the same time, which is why a lot of people mix this up.)

If your period is due around the 26th then you would most likely ovulate around 12th or so.

However ovulation is not a precise science and women have been known to conceive at the strangest times - sometimes from intercourse that has occured during a period.

Implantation bleeding only occurs in a small minority of women, and it is "old blood" - women who experience a true implantation bleed usually report it to be like a scant, brownish discharge, or pink staining on their underwear, rather than actual blood spots. Implantation also happens about 8-12 days after conception - bearing in mind that conception more often than not occurs a day or two after intercourse - so you could reasonably expect implantation bleeding, if it happens at all, to be noticed about 10-14 days after intercourse - usually around the time your period would be due.

Slight spotting between periods could be due to any number of things - if it happens like clockwork every month as part of your cycle (a small percentage of women actually get ovulation slpotting), or if it happens as a once off then it's normally dismissed as just one of those things.

You can normally detect early pregnancy using home testing kits about 14-21 days after intercourse. For women on a 28 day (ish) cycle this is about the time their period fails to show up so it is a reasonable time to take a test.

At this point, with your history of extended cycles and given the overall timing it's probably not a pregnancy, but taking a test at the end of next week/early the week after wouldn't be an unreasonable things to do.

Just give yourself time - try to relax, and don't get anxious about the whole thing - don't "try" - don't go overboard charting temperatures, analysing cervical mucous, having sex by the calendar etc. Give it six months or so of reasonably regular unprotected sex and if nothing has happened then have a chat with your doctor about some of the ways you can assist yourself to conceive naturally.

Best of luck.

Implantation bleeding usually happens around the time you would normally have you period (or a little while before). If it is implantation bleeding, a pregnancy test could be accurate within a few days of the bleeding.

If you're RH negative (negative blood type) and you're pregnant, you MUST get a shot within 72 hrs everytime you bleed, while pregnant. Only 20% of all people are RH negative, but you should see your Dr. if you don't know your blood type. Good luck!

Well implantation does cause spotting. It is possible that you are pregnant, but take a first response test to find out or just wait and see if your period comes this month. Remember if you stress to much, your period may be delayed, and then you will think that you are pregnant. I would suggest to take a test.
