A "Canuck" is a Canadian...first used in the 1900's as a nickname for a Canadian literary character...
also the team name for the Vancouver Canucks, the NHL hockey team...
also used as the nickname for the Canadian ski team in the late 70's-early 80's...the Crazy Canucks...

What the hank is a Yank? Show me yours and I'll show you mine! LOL

Kanata = village - Kanuck.

Personification of "Johnny Canuck", cartoon guy symbolizing Canadians. Chinooks originally occupied the land too (Canada+Chinook = Canook). No one really knows true origin...referred to French Canadians firstly but now refers to all Canadians in general.

Also "kanaka" was Hawaiian for the south sea islanders. French Candians worked with them back in the 1800s and were also called "kanaka" too, so maybe that is where it originated.
