Many of my collegues got an email from one of the employees, I am just putting it here in parts.
1. Starting message of the thread
2. My reply to the email

[1] FW: A REAL LIFE STORY!!
"This is a real story of a young college girl who passed away last month in chennai. Her name was Priya. She was hit by a lorry. She was working in a call centre. "[THE STORY STARTS LIKE THIS AND GOES ON AND ENDS LIKE] "Hutch has the best coverage. Wherever you go, our network follows!!! Never in my life i have read such an email...Wasted ten minutes coz of this..."
Regards, XXXX.

[2] By knowing the entire content of this message you wasted 10 minutes in life, you made others to waste time by sending it to work email ids. This has been marked as spam by the mail client, but in future "a real stuff" could lead to "real ignorance".
"This is an advice. Not to make fun official."----my signature

WHO HAS DONE THE BAD ACT?

You did the bad act.

I can't believe you wasted ten minutes on such an obviously silly message, and then wasted another ten minutes posting it here.

Beyond that, unless you're a very knowledgeable IT guy (and I mean a true protocol expert, far beyond your normal webmaster), you can't prove or even trace who sent a spam message. Return addresses and from addresses can be faked, just like the written return address on an envelope.

You should have just deleted the message, or perhaps reported it to the IT guy who deals with spam. Instead, you sent a flame to someone who may not have sent the original message.

One of two things. One - Your fellow employee was mad at your clever response. I hate those spam messages, I always go to Snopes.com and send the debunk message to them. Anyway, they reported you to management.

Or Two, and more likely, you are being watched for some reason by management. Mind your P's and Q's really well for the next couple of months. And if it happens again, just forward the message to HR asking them what they would like you to do with this.
