I've been a teacher and I'm now out of teaching. I want to go into social work but I don't know what I have to do to get started. Does anyone have any advice?

The best way would be to go back and get a MSW degree. Given your experience as a teacher you would probably have no problem getting accepted in to a program. With the MSW degree many job opportunities would open up to do both within and outside of schools. DA

With teaching and a degree, you have a solid background. If you are in the UK, you can check out jobsgopublic, in the US there are many job websites that could help.

In places like New York, the local government lists all the government social work jobs on their website.

In the UK, with your teaching experience and degree, you could get a job paying over 29k sterling (over 50grand us).

Just apply for the jobs, be nice to your references, and hope nothing comes up on the police check.

Good luck.

You can get into any field you want. You have an education and some experience. Especially since you were in the Education field. My suggestion would be to look around maybe for a University or specialty school that may have a certification program. Or just start putting in your resume. Good Luck!

well if you are still in school then change your major to social work. if you are no longer in school, it is still possible to get a case manager position while returning to school to get a master in Social work. You can still get accepted into an MSW program as long as you have at least a B average in undergrad.
