This is hidden by the way in which the government cooks the books.
In other words, you work 50% of your time to fund your government's ideas and agenda - as opposed to your own.
How does this make you feel when you troop out to work every day?

Western governments appropriate around 35% of their citizens' earnings in the form of taxes - of one sort or another. But did you know that the numerous regulations and red tape that they also impose on businesses means that goods and services cost around 13% more than they would otherwise do?
In other words, western governments confiscate almost 50% (not 35%) of their people's purchasing power.

I would think the real tax for the working people of this country is higher than that, 40% from wages, tax on food, clothes, petrol, drink, cars, holidays and numerous others things, tax takes over the man in the streets income and leaves him with nothing, disgraceful and more than cooking the books.

Very much so. And the irony is the people who work are the people least likely to get back any of the benefits we pay in taxes. Eg. tax credits, unemployment benefits, healthcare (coz we also normally pay for private healthcard), free bus/train passes, council tax rebates, discounts off this and that etc.

I know this information already. The only problem is that people are just standing there with their **** in their hand and letting this happen. The people would rather fight for the scraps because its "easier" to do. If we all decided to rise up and linch the people (not just the government), Then something could be done.

I thought it was more.....
Income tax up to 35.4%
State tax (depends on your state) 7%
Sales tax = 7.75% (where I live)
Utilities tax (Electric, Gas, Water, Trash)
Gasoline
Personal Property
And people think they're free? Or they think the government should provide more services like "free" health care? Where does the money come from.....US!

no its not, its much, much more than that. you pay 17.5% on everything you buy, 40% when you die, 90% on petrol. 1000% on ciagrettes, 500% alcohol, tax top drive, tax to fly, coiuncil tax...the real figure is nearer 95%

I don't mind paying tax, it's the amount that gets wasted on freeloaders and fat smokers that upsets me!
