my job suggested moving me farther away when i get back from maternity leave they said their will be more responsibility but my job title will stay the same, i want to move up but not for no money and to go farther away is going to be a slight inconvienence however ive never asked more a raise in my life, but i did and they said they would discuss it, should i have done that? now im scared they'll say no and treat me differently, does anyone have any advice?

As long as you are professional about it, there is nothing wrong in asking for more money...especially if they are giving you additional responsibility.

Stick to your guns, thye surely can't expect you to do it for nothing.
