You could try but if you have an engine noise after the car has warmed up and while driving it may be piston slap and maybe scored pistons. Try the enginge flush and fill and see what happens, it won't hurt.

Slick 50 is snake oil. It used to contain Teflon, they were sued, that ingredient was removed, now it's just a mix of additives, not unique to it. So it may help a little in some scenarios but that's not what you need.
If this is a high mileage engine, and the knock is not pinging (try a tank of Shell Premium or some other higher octane, premium brand first), I would do a flush using either Marvel Mystery Oil (follow directions carefully) or http://www.auto-rx.com/. Auto RX is a great product, I have no affiliation with it. However it works great. Yes it's costly, and yes you have to follow a VERY specific application process, see the website. But you get what you pay for.
MMO wouldn't be bad as a first "easy" cleanup pass.
After you've cleaned it up using one of the products, Valvoline MaxLife Synthetic would be a good choice for you. It would help prevent the sludge (any synthetic would) but also help condition gaskets and keep the engine from being a leaker/smoker.

You are just wasting time and money. I assume you have sludge in the engine. when you flush it a lot will never come out of the pan and will plug the oil pump screen. this will definitely seize the engine for sure. It's too late for synthetic oil. You should have started that as a preventative, not a fix. It's unfortunate to say, but you should start saving for a replacement engine or another car.

1.) Flush out the sludge first,
2.) then fix whatever is causing the knock, ie. piston rod - but probably just loaded with crud from using petroleum oil.
3.) Use superior synthetic
4) Use a good gasoline additive to keep the injectors - (or carburetor), cylinders clean.

Flushing tends to wreck an engine a lot more often than it helps it. You knock loose hundreds of chunks of sludge that clogs up all kinds of passages.

if its knocking very loud,then it could be a rod knocking.if its that dirty,then if you decide to flush it,you better drop the pan and clean it out.it could be the oil pump too.if its a bearing,then it could have already scared the crank.
