My utilty company turned off my gas to my home due to non-payment. I paid them and now they're saying it could be up to 3 days before they can send a guy out here to turn the gas back on. It's cold and I can't shower or cook. Can anyone tell me how to turn it on my self? Thanks.

They put whats called a "blind swivel" inside the gas pipe just on the outlet side of the gas meter. Do not attempt to remove this plug, your problems may end up being worse then not being able to shower.

To answer your question, you cannot turn it back on. Biggest reason is because it's illegal. Your next problem may be when they turn it on. Many gas companies do a leak check before turning the gas back on. They use a monometer and it will show the smallest of leaks. If they find one, you will need to have it fixed before they will turn it on.

I can tell you how but the problem is that you have to relight the pilot lights on the water heater and furnace and if you don't know how to torn gas on you probably don't know how to light these, so be safe and go shower at a friends.

It is illegal for you to turn it back on. Just wait! As far as showers and being cold, spend 3 days at a relative's home. That simple!

go out to the gas meter on the side of your house and cut off the lock. then turn the vale on

that is one of two things never mess around with gas meters and electrical meters. just wait for them the fines they can slap to yah would be huge.
