Nobody enjoys being part of a hated minority. Nobody likes being treated poorly for something they cannot change. Nobody likes being treated like a social pariah, as gay/lesbians have in the past.
For this reason many gays and lesbians won't admit to themselves the feelings they have for a long time - many after years of marriage. Most have realized that denying who you are is much worse than being despised by society.
Do they dislike how they feel, no. Do they wish they were completely accepted for who they are, yes. Many wish they had been born straight for the above reasons.

some want to be straight because they think being gay is a sin. But my advice to anyone young in that position is, just stay Christian. You're more likely to lose the Holy Spirit by trying to convert to non-Christian religion that you think will accept you more.

Someone once described sexuality as a diagram of a bottle lying on it's side, where the bottle represents a continuum from completly straight to completly gay, with bisexual being somewhere in the middle.
This could mean that people can be anywhere along the continuum and if they fall in love with someone of one sex at point in their life, then they may well meet and fall in love with someone of the opposite gender at another point.
People always say you can't help who you fall in love with and perhaps society would be happier if we didn't label people in this way.

I don't think it's matter of choice. If a person is gay, it's who they are. Some people will undoubtedly struggle with it. Gays face so much persecution and resentment. Whenever I see a gay person stand up for their rights, I want to stand up and cheer.
PS I'm heterosexual.

My Stepdaughter changed her gay life choice after 6 years of living the lesbian lifestyle. Now she's engaged to a fine young man.
While not a popular view on this forum, people do choose different lifestyles at different times in their lives.
What you do today doesn't define you for your entire life unless you choose to let it.

I sometimes wonder what it would be like to be straight but I am fine with being gay even though it has made my life harder.

If they are no longer attracted to guys they might become strait, but if theyre just going strait because society is cruel, they'll probably still be gay inside.
