I am a very intelligent person with bright Ideas, and a very good understanding of the world, and many things... I just have a problem
A. carrying on conversations
B. expressing ideas from inside my mind to out of my mouth

I feel so stupid sometimes because Words don't flow out of my mouth so well, and i often just say random idiodic phrases...
example convo.

me: "So do you have any spoon lures?"
clerk: "No, I don't believe we do, but those are a very good lure to have"
me: " yeah, I catch fish alot"

and then i'll put my head down and walk away because of how stupid i sounded

just relax and don't be so hard on yourself. The worst thing to do is not have conversations because you have doubts. Conversations are like anything else: practice makes perfect.

Find a group of people that are nice, and friendly, and non-judgmental with you and talk your head off.

I am the exact same way. I can carry long discussions about philosophies of life, and other times I just stumble all over my words. Sometimes even stuttering or making completely irrelevant responses as well.
If you're like me, you think abstractly and jump from one thought to the next very quickly and hastily try to answer. The problem is trying to translate that into one single cohesive thought.
I'd try to focus on simple responses and stick to one train of thought. Relax and make yourself comfortable with speaking to strangers. Comfort and simplicity is the key to wit.
I think writing has recently helped me as well.

dude talking is just a skill like any other and must be improved through practice, I am afraid that is the only way to help, but I know how you feel I used to have a problem with that until I started talking with people online, I was able to think before I spoke and just blamed it on being a slow typist, eventually I got faster at it, maybe you should try it.

you just have to start learning quick responses. Watch comedy skits, Robin Williams, Dane Cook, etc. they all have that skill learn from them. Also getting into regular conversations with other quick witted people. Over time you will learn what they say and do and how they think. The more rude and cocky the person the better to learn from. If you fight to keep up with them you will eventually match them. Don't be afraid to get your feelings hurt. It comes with learning from that type of person. Doesn't hurt to read either, learn from older men and women. Older books older perspectives.

Don't talk to impress. Listen to learn!

Quiet people always seem more intelligent.

Short answers are the best.

You should have answered the clerk with "You bet!". It works in almost any situation. You don't have to think about it.

You need to observe how good speakers carry out their talks or try to read books related to it to gain new techniques and of course you need to talk and talk and talk. So gather your thoughts, concentrate, be confident, relax and let it out.
