Years ago the late comedian Allan Sherman wrote a pretty thick book called The Rape of the A.P.E. with A.P.E. standing for American Puritan Ethnic it was just as funny as it was informative. Well thought out and a decent read.
The late Daniel V. Gallery Rear Admiral Retired wrote a series of really funny books whose hero 'Fatso Gianinni' got into some really interesting scrapes and still came out smelling like a rose. Really funny.
The M.A.S.H. books were really funny until towards the end of the series when they became a little to comical but they were funny in the extreme.
The late actor David Niven wrote a bunch of books detailing his early days in Hollywood with pictures and commentary about a lot of the stars and directors and their antics. There is a particulaly great sequence of stories about his early days living in a house with Errol Flynn that are quite hilarious. Try any or all of them if you can find them. Happy reading.

It's a toss up for me between any Terry Pratchett books (Discworld), and Douglas Adams (I like The Long Dark Teatime of the Soul the best for pure laugh content.)
