It's so interesting how many of the non-Kentucky fans are calling us Big Blue fans crazy for calling for Tubby's firing, or for him to resign.

Well, this is today's Dan Wetzel column and he explains it better than any of us could.

You have to understand the history of Kentucky Wildcat basketball and the expectations that fans in the Blue Grass state have. Kentucky basketball and Louiseville football are more than comparable to professional teams. In fact, both have better attendance than most professional teams of their sports.

After you've read the column, give me your opinions on whether you agree with me and Dan or not.

I never said Tubby wasn't a good coach. In the article, it plainly says that Smith is without a doubt one of the best coaches in the NCAA. It's his recruiting and publicity that are really in question. Kentucky needs a more complete coach like they had with Pitino.

It's Kentucky, need I say more? It's the NCAA's all-time winning-est program in Div I basketball. Fans are easily spoiled with success. I always thought that the worst thing that could happen to Smith was win that championship in his first year. I'm a Carolina fan, but the wife and in-laws are Kentucky through and through. They have it all, the flag, the shirts, the jackets, the license plates, the window decals. It's Kentucky, plain and simple, less than the best will not suffice. They are used to winning every year, if they won the title 9 out 10 years, the one year everyone would talk about would be the one they didn't win. It's Kentucky.

I don't think your crazy for suggesting he should go, because if they get by Villanova, they will lose to Kansas. He just doesn't get the players and now he can't be Flordia. After 10 years, with no Final Fours, even though he won a title, it is time to go. I mean look at Louisville basketball, coached by Pitino, they are taking off and have been in a Final Four in the last 3 years, and that is UK biggest rival coached by a former coach, and Kecutcky has done nothing lately, would make ant Kentucky fan sick. So yes if you want him gone you have every reason to ask for.

Didn't Tubby win y'all a title. I know it was back in 1998 but come on. The man is a good coach. If they fired him, Kentucky is going to regret it. Just look at Cincy, I know they are not in the same boat with Kentucky, but Higgins had that team as a great basketball program. Now look at them. Go ahead and get rid of Tubby. We'll take him at South Carolina.
