Well, basically global warming IS a scientifically established phenomenon. There has been a minority who maintain that global warming is not fact, but merely cooked up by various people and a couple other conspiracy theories (mostly propounded by Michael Crichton).

Some people also argue that the Earth is so huge that whatever humans do will have a neglegible effect on the planet. But the problem in that theory is that the climate and weather of the Earth is quite delicately balanced. Consider this: Global Warming has its effects more in the poles than in the equator. When there is an increase in the tempreture at the poles, ice starts melting. Usually, the ice at the poles reflects the sunlight back, but with less ice, there will be more heat absorbed. This will lead to further melting and so on... And all the ice becomes water, which causes oceans to rise... So basically you don't really need to raise the tempreture of the Earth very much for there to be significant problems....

The REASONS for global warming are the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. These gases act as virtual "blankets" and keep heat that would otherwise dissappate into space, in. Initially, when the Earth was formed, the greenhouse gases were extremely useful because they kept the heat in and brought tempretures high enough for life, but theres too much of it in the atmosphere now...

As far as facts go, there has been an approximate increase of between 0.7 to 0.9 degrees Centigrade (1.3 to 1.6 Farenheit) and even if all the emmisions were to stop today, there is expected to be a further rise of 0.5 Centigrade. According to scientific estimates, the tempreture is expected to rise between 1.1 to 6.5 degrees Centigrade (2 to 11.5 Farenheit) by the end of the century. The increase in tempretures will be more at the poles.

Some of the fallouts predicted are problems in rainfall, irregular weather conditions, late seasons, ocean acidification and rise in sea levels.

The C4 documentary last week highlighted the misconceptions of Global Warming. But the government quickly latches on to people's gullibility and immediately slap a tax on, for example, air travel. Below is an extract from Channel 4's documentary.

Absolutely. I'm all for living cleanly, not because I believe we're causing global warming but because it's morally right. Taxing us/planning to tax us so much under the premise of global warming is terrible and will hit poorer people worst.

2 documentary's you should watch

1) An Inconvinient Truth
2) The Great Global Warming Scandel

Then make your own decision.

Well the biggest tax scandal was the change over from Pounds Shillings and pence to decimal. Overnight everything doubled in price. 2/6p which would now be 12 and a half pence became 26pence.
The one after that is the luxury tax on all adult clothes and necessary items for women, and so the list went on and on.

The Mgt Thatcher said 'out with the rates for housing system!
and in came the first named tax, that I don't now remember, and Mgt told the nation that banding tax would stay that cost for ever, never to change.
The name changed an now it is Council tax its gone up and up with each name change.

The Government lost its water service that it used to look after, also the trains, and a few more things were removed from their everyday care service. So they need something to get at, they can play all day long with their newest toy.

Global warming is a scam. I heard about a "doom and gloom" article, based on current scientific fact, that appeared in 1974 about global COOLING and how they were certain that another ice age was coming. The temp of the world had decreased about 2.5 degrees in 30 years and they were scared!

These things come in cycles and there is nothing that can be done. Man's influence is so small it is pointless to worry.

I recycle and am appalled by employing the decimation of the the rain forests, which I beleive is a scandal and help my nearby ecosystem and open areas and bushes. And rightly so. regardless of GW, all of us would desire to do those issues. it fairly is a factor of being a sturdy human.

Just consider this -

Scientists are just looking after the Earth and our Environment -

While the Politicians are just looking after their own interests.
