|a + b = 25.000
|0.05a + 0.02b = 980
a = 25,000 - b

0,05(25,000 - b) + 0,02b = 980
1250 - 0.05b + 0.02b = 980
-0.03b = 980 - 1250
b = -270 : -0.03b =
b = 9000
a = 25.000 - 9000
a = 16.000
Answer: She invested at 5%, $ 16,000.

x +y = 25,000

.05*x + .02*y = 980

so 5x+2y=98,000

1st equation gives us y=25,000 - x so

5x + 2(25,000 - x)=98,000

3x = 48,000 x = 16,000

.05P + .02(25000-P) = 980
.05P + 500 - .02P = .03P + 500 = 980
.03P = 480
P = 16000
