It depends on the vets in your area. Some of them will probe for free, and others will want to do a checkup and charge you for a visit... usually around $35 to $50.
You can also look for a breeder in your area that would probably do it for free. You can do a google search for "Ball breeder (city name)", or post an ad in Craigslist.
Some people might suggest you do it yourself and point you to a website with probing pictures, but I wouldn't recommend trying it until you have at least seen it in person. Probing incorrectly can harm your snake and potentially kill him.

i would not recommend you try doing it yourself because you could hurt the snake. Also, you have no other snake to compare it to. I took my baby to a reptile pet store we have here, and they probed her for free. A lot of places that sell them will have someone there that knows what to do. Call around and ask if someone there can probe. If so, they will usually do it for free. We took ours one day when we went to go pick up her mouse.

Unless you are planning on breeding them, why bother? I know, you want to name it according to sex. OK, Look down on the snakes tail over the cloaca and see if there is a slight pinching in from the body to the tail ( you will have to look closely) and if the tail is fairly short ( helps if you have more than one ball python). The snake without the slight pinching and longer tail is male (accuracy 99%).

The vets and pet shops around me charge around 10-15 bucks. If you take it to a pet shop, take him to one that sees reptiles and exotics.
