I haven't seen the film yet, but have seen at least 4 shows over on the History Channel in the last week discussing the facts of the attempted INVASION by Persia of the Greek city-states.
I can't explain the complaints of the "PC" crowd... they just dislike history and like it revised to comply with their views.
As to Islamics, it is assinine for them to complain because it occured CENTURIES prior to the Prophet Mohammed receiving the word of God.
Iranians / Persians complaining as a national issue... see my statement regarding the "politically correct".

Persia was Not Islamic until a couple of thousand years after the battle alluded to in 300. Islamics would have been at war with these Persians.

The story had enough drama without having to try to compete with Lord of the Rings. There was no need for mutant monsters, rhinos and elephants 1000 times the size of any that ever walked the Earth. The story should have paid more attention to historical accuracy

Its a good movie based very loosely on fact. The PC crowd and the Islamic radicals are just trying to start more crap.

Maybe we could take something the Iranians said seriously if they would condemn the movies made in their country that make the West look bad, which are used to recruit suicide bombers. You didn't hear the British people complain about Braveheart which also was full of historic inaccuracies.

Persians weren't Muslim you idiot, they were Zoroastrian. And I haven't heard one word against the film from any radical Islamist I know. The fact that the Persians were displayed as being entirely evil might be a factor if there are complaints. History isn't black and white.
Personally, I saw the film and I liked it. The dialogue was simple and the characters were thin, but it was extremely well shot and the battles were incredible. However, if I made a film about brave mujahedeen fighting against American imperialism, you'd have good reason to complain.

the Movie was based on a comic book made way before LOTR. It isn't supposed to be realistic. It is a story of heroism. We have the right to express our opinions. Too bad people are so one sided. People are people, whether Muslim, Christian, Jew, Pagan, Hindu, Buddhist, Dao, Shinto, Black, White, Red, Brown. We have all done our fair share of right and wrong.

I think it's because in the movie 300,000 or so Persians were held at bay by a couple hundred Trojans
It makes them look like whimps (probably rightfully so)

You mean like the US is now trying to conquer the Middle East??? as you say, empires acquire through force of arms.
But you are right, it's only a movie, highly innacurate historically and culturally but so what, everyone should just chill.

Anything that makes Islam looks bad is wrong now despite the facts of the case.
We all have dark chapters in our history. 300 is about heroes to the bitter end.
Don't like it don't watch it.
