Nunya biznis is on the right track here (assuming these are land hermit crabs, not aquatic ones!). Temperature and humidity are crucial, they need spare shells of a proper size to molt, deep substrate to bury in when the "time" comes, clean (and dechlorinated) water, and some species require saltwater (marine strength) to thrive.

Well... I don't mean to be rude but if you did everything right, then they wouldn't have died. That has to be a somewhat accurate assumption, right? Now if they showed any signs of possibly a bacterial infection, mites, etc. That could've been the reason and if that was the case, your other two are well on their way to dying as well. It could've also been they suffered casualities from a fight, fighting caused by lack of appropriate shells or not enough space. A good rule with Hermits (contrary to what PetsMart will tell you) is to have at LEAST 5 gallons of tank space per Hermit, if not 10. Another possibility is they died from the water not being properly dechlorinated or even the PH. It could also have been a lack of humidity... It could've been from a molting complication. There's several different reasons why they could've died. The most likely reason why the other two are still alive (for now) is because they're a little hardier, maybe a little older and can handle whatever circumstances a bit better. I'd suggest checking your water, your tank space, your shells, your temperature and humidity. Do a little research on Hermit Crabs, there are several different websites with excellent information that could really help you along. Hermit Crabs are not easy creatures to keep, again, despite what PetsMart will tell you.

I don't remember much about hermits crabs. I do remember that they grow, and you have to provide new, larger shells for them to move into as they grow. They can be picky about new shells, so you have to offer a few. All you have to do is place them in their tank. They will pick and choose. They may try them all out. They just need to be a little larger than the current shell they live in. I know that this could be one of probably many reasons.
Also, make sure you are feeding them the RIGHT diet. Make sure all nutrients they need are being provided.
hope this is helpful. You may already know this...sorry if you do.
Also, you need to mist them...daily, I think.

Even if you are doing everything right, remember, they are not in their natural environment and as with any wild animal, it is often hard to get them to thrive.

Tell us more about their setup, like what they live in, how big is it, what is the humidity, the temp, do they have both salt water and fresh water, what types of food do you offer them? Did you see any fighting? Did they ever try and molt?
