Why are they called that? Did Prince Albert have one?

He's reputed to have had one. The trousers of the day were very tight indeed & as any guy who's worn skin tight jeans will tell you, it can lead to embarrasing pop-ups. So PA apparently prevented this by securing his royal member with a PA.

Yes they are called Prince Alberts because he had one. The fashion was for tight fitting breeches and apparently the piercing gave a better line is his clothing.

Actually I think it was because in those days you kept your pocket watch on a chain just like the one Prince Albert had. I suppose the piercing through your tackle is like a pocket watch and chain.

Apparently because of the tight fitting clothes of the day Prince Albert secured his n0b to his leg to save any embarrassing 'pop-ups'
