A slightly swollen eye can be the first signs of a bacteria infection, but also may not. Give him until this evening to see if it gets better or not. If you don't see improvement, I would assume it's an infection. This is called pop eye, but oddly enough is actually a liver infection. You would need to treat with a product called Furanace. It is also a good idea to feed the fish a medicated food for bacterial infections. Available at better pet stores. Treat the tank for 10 days minimum, 2 weeks is even better. You will also want to start the treatment by doing a 50% water change on the tank and removing the carbon from the filter.

This treatment will kill the beneficial bacteria in the tank and it will have to cycle again once the treatment is complete so plan on dealing with that as well.

sounds like that could be popeye, have a look at the pic below and see if it looks the same.
this is often caused by bad water quality, so keep up with your water changes (should be once a week of about 20%) and do a big water change now of about 30-50%.

if you have a hospital tank move him to there. then you can treat with either Melafix which is readily available, or there is Ampicillin but this is hard to come by.

could there also be a possibilty it was an injury? those tiger barbs being the culprits? they should be in groups of 6 or more to even out their aggression. if it looks like an injury, treat with lovely clean water and melafix helps heal too.

what size tank is this lot in? have you done any water parameter readings lately? ammonia, nitrate, nitrite?

i've put a link to the betta site below, it has a good disease section, and as gouramis and bettas are related it's not too far flung from the subject.

No way. Gold gouramis get 3-6 circumstances as tremendous as dwarfs and are a lot more beneficial aggressive. Unfortunatley I actually have seen dwarf blue gouramis slaughtered by ability of golds because of a persons'' incompetence. Dwarf gouramis are very timid fish. None of your contemporary fish are a sturdy journey for them. How vast is your contemporary tank? until eventually you're searching down the danios and platies, you actually favor to save them in perfect communities of 5 or more beneficial. to attempt this you want a minimum of a 40 gallon tank.
